The Surfside Pier, situated in the picturesque Surfside Beach, South Carolina, had long been a cherished landmark among locals and visitors alike. A captivating photograph of this iconic structure was immortalized on the morning of September 28, 2016, just before the devastating Hurricane Matthew wreaked havoc on the state in October of that same year. Regrettably, the pier has remained off-limits for fishing enthusiasts ever since.
Nevertheless, my wife and I have persisted in savoring delightful breakfasts and dinners at the renowned Surf Diner, conveniently nestled at the entrance of the pier, throughout the years.
Now, with the construction of a brand new Surfside Pier nearing its completion, an air of anticipation and excitement permeates the atmosphere. The grand opening of this modern concrete pier is eagerly awaited, promising to be a momentous occasion for all.
