... Deep in the heart
of the Appalachian Mountains,
the pretty trail leading
to the Benton Waterfall
is in full wildflower swing.
The morning is fresh and crisp,
the lighting so pretty
on the face of the tumbling waters
cascading over the granite rocks below.
Along the creek
are scattered beautiful
lavender wildflowers
in the forest
of the Cherokee National Forest
of Tennessee.
This falls is part of
the Chilhowee Recreation Area,
along the way
of one of the lovely trails
starting at a cool high mountain lake
near the campgrounds...
